The Excellence in Humanities Awards 2024, organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Kelaniya, was held on 20 December 2024 at the Ven. Prof. Kotahene Sri Pragnakeerthi Thero Memorial Hall (K14) Auditorium. The ceremony was presided over by Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya.
In recognition of outstanding and dedicated service to the Faculty of Humanities, Special Honorary Service Awards were conferred upon distinguished individuals representing each department of the faculty. Among the esteemed recipients was Emeritus Professor Shirley Lal Wijesinghe of the Department of Western Classical Culture and Christian Culture. The award acknowledged his long-standing academic excellence, commitment to humanities scholarship, and significant contributions to teaching, research, and institutional development.
The conferment of this honorary award highlighted the Faculty of Humanities’ commitment to recognizing lifelong service and scholarly distinction, celebrating individuals whose academic legacy continues to inspire future generations.
